Ruth is a classically trained professional orchestral musician, soloist, accompanist and has been playing and teaching for over 35 years. She has performed with some of the worlds top orchestras such as LSO, LPO, CBSO, BBC Welsh Symphony & Scottish Ballet and also has experience playing in West End Shows, ceilidh bands, chamber groups and often work as a session musician.
She is a Guildhall School of Music & Drama Graduate, has worked as a BBC Cymru soloist & studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff prior to leaving school. She teaches students who aspire to work in the music profession and specialises in advanced teaching (i.e. grade 8 and above) although she enjoys teaching student of all ages and levels. Ruth also composes bespoke songs and commissioned compositions for films, performs as an accompanist and freelances as an orchestral player and soloist.

With over 30 years of specialist music teaching experience, she has taught for music services in Bedford, Lincolnshire and Kent as well as at several top public schools, for example, Harrow and Sherborne School. She has worked as a Music Examiner and an OfSTED inspector for Guildhall School & Nord Anglia Schools Improvement Services. Nowadays Ruth mainly teaches privately, however, has extended her practise to include online tuition and teaches music worldwide -With over 6 years of teaching experience through Skype, she is one of the best Skype teachers across the UK. All of her students in the UK achieved distinctions in the 2020 online examinations for both Trinity Rock and Pop vocals and for Associated Board practical and theory examinations.
She has a modern approach to learning and genuinely enjoys teaching! She uses lots of different teaching materials, methods and strategies.
